He pledged up to $1 million of his own fortune to stand up against Lumen View. With approximately $350,000 invested in legal fees, Lumen View was finally faced with a determined opponent. A judge overturned the "decision-making" patent and O'Connor was also the first patent troll defendant to be awarded attorneys' fees.
